Ice Cream Parlour in San Francisco.
San Francisco--------------
In our inner Richmond area there are so many Chinese that this appears to be a Chinatown. But most of these Chinese are completely Americanized by habit. In San Francisco you meet people of many ethnicity, religions and nationalities. But in diversity of people Mumbai beats San Francisco. In San Francisco, there are people of limited diversity for example Chinese, Japanese, black Americans Caucasians etc. but in Mumbai there are people of almost every nationality on the globe. That is why Mumbai belongs to nobody and everybody at the same time. Nobody calls Mumbai its own except few kolis and parsasis. Whereas AMACHI MUMBAI has lot of publicity in press. But even the lay man disowns his responsibility as regards cleanliness and safety. We can say safety has gone to dogs ever since Kashmiri militants have exploded serial blasts in trains. This incident have achieved many things for militants. Mumbai is training ground for any type of militants, it is proved now once and for all. LET (Lakshakre—toyaba) is big fish for Mumbai cops. For them SIMI is sufficient.
But let us not spoil our fun in the turmoil of politics. So we were talking of San Francisco. This Saturday that is 8/12/06 we visited a beautiful spot in the city. The Sutro hight park, it is near ocean beach. It was actually private property of Adolf Sutro, a nineteenth century millionaire. There was a huge mansion of the rich man in 1881. But at the spot a spacious park is there. The park is at the highest point in San Francisco overlooking ocean beach. From the park a bird’s eye view of the beach and wide expanse of Pacific ocean are breath-taking. When we observed the ocean was to a limit, blue and beyond that of brown color. In my mind I asked Pacific ocean, “Are you okey?” in the American tradition.
But He calmly sent wave upon wave to the beach, unperturbed. In His bowel is a whole world with valleys, ravines, jungles, and gigantic mountains along with innumerable fish. I don’t know why but of all the oceans, I love Pacific ocean. But then not seeing any of US city, I can safely say that I like San Francisco. Other cities may be more beautiful or big or scenic but I like and love San Francisco. Amol took us to Coldstane creamery in John Daly city a suburb of San Francisco. Actually it is a multiplex complex with Century theatre and several shops. First sometime was taken by hunting for a parking space in the 5 storey parking lot. Coldstone Creamery, as the name suggests, is an ice-cream shop. Amol took us there driving through the traffic of San Francisco just to taste the ice-cream. But it was worth the trip as we found out. Even though the establishment was small, there was a queue for ice-creams and they were preparing ice-creams as per orders. Little Kashmira was sleeping in her seat so we were reassued. There were few chairs in the shop over which we placed Kash’s crib. The taste lingered for a long time of ice-creams and effect of fashionable ambience remained on us for long time. Viva Coldstone, long live the ice cream joint.
